Entry Requirements
ENGLISH ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You must have an appropriate level of English language skills to study a Sunshine Coast TAFE Certificate, Diploma or Advanced Diploma program. If you do not meet the criteria, we can help you gain the skills through our English language training program.
International students must satisfy one of the following English language proficiency requirements:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS), academic module - score of 5.5 with no individual score less than 5.0; NOTE: Applicants from AL3 and AL4 countries must sit an IELTS test.
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - minimum score of - 530 for the paper based test; 197 for the computer based; 71 for the internet based test.
- International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) - minimum individual score of 3;
- TAFE Queensland Certificate IV in English;
- Australian Year 12 English (or equivalent) - Sound Achievement rating;
- Cambridge First Certificate of English - A or B grades;
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English;
- Successful completion of an acceptable formal course where the medium of instruction was English. This does not include English Language Courses for Overseas Students (ELICOS).
- Successful completion of TAFE Queensland bridging course Certificate III in Communication and Business Skills for International Students.
ACADEMIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
In general, entry to Certificate programs requires successful completion of the equivalent to Year 10 in Australia and Diploma programs require the equivalent of Year 12.
Some courses may have further requirements such as proficiency in specific subjects - for example, science, art or mathematics or portfolios relevant to the course.
Mature-age entry is usually offered as an alternative to Years 10 or 12 levels of study. For mature-age entry, you must be at least 21 years of age and have some relevant work experience.
