Living expenses

Australia offers excellent value for money. Living expenses and tuition costs are generally less expensive than in the United Kingdom and the United States of America. The cost of living on the Sunshine Coast is generally lower than in other Australian cities. On average, you need between A$20,000 and A$25,000 per year to live comfortably on the Sunshine Coast. These estimates are in addition to airfare, health cover and tuition fees, and will vary depending on your lifestyle and preferences.

If you have a spouse or dependant child accompanying you to Australia, you will need to allow more for living expenses and international school fees for school age children.

Transport

Public transport on the Sunshine Coast is provided by Sunbus. Timetables and fares are integrated with the whole of south east Queensland, including bus and train connections to Brisbane.

If you have a driving licence you might find it more convenient to consider purchasing a car in Australia. Students can drive in Australia using their home country licence providing it is current and must carry a translation if it is not in English.

The Sunshine Coast region is serviced by its own domestic airport at Maroochydore with regular flights to all major Australian cities, including Sydney and Melbourne. International airlines such as Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Emirates and Thai Airways use Brisbane International Airport, which is just over 100 kilometres from the Sunshine Coast.
